btw, what's up with the "white Macbooks only" policy?

You'll have to have the Macbook tested by an Authorized Service Provider to make sure it's good to go (probably if it still works with an external monitor, you shouldn't have an issue.) Otherwise, I'm sure the SP will be willing to bring it up to snuff under their normal service rates for parts and work. As for black macbooks, we don't really care in regard to Modservice, we're just not going to sell new modbooks with a black/white/mag color mix... you're all welcome to do so under the Modservice program, though!
apple too, acts weird about their black macbooks. They told me once that it had to do with the just overall difference of the way they were made.
OMG how god is this.

I own 3 laptops.

Small 13.3 White Macbook Pro with dodgy screen (wire come loose)
First edition of Macbook Pro 15"
Most recent Macbook from Jan 09.

I have to get the White Macbook done or the Macbook Pro 15.

How much roughly does it cost to convert!

OMG I am so excited. I am an animator and this is going to be amazing for me.
I have an older macbook pro that can't be converted and I wanted to trade it in for a modbook. Is that possible. I know that they cannot convert it but can a trade it in a for the value of a regular macbook for conversion?

Thanks,

Dion
Dion,

For a used machine, I'd be surprised if any of the Modbook resellers have any trade-in options. Personally, I would recommend just selling it through one of the typical online auction sites, and putting the money towards a new Modbook.
easier said than done but thanks for the reply
Axiotron support answered that question on another thread and the answer is yes, since there is a new lcd screen that comes in the kit.

I was reading above and I want to know What is Modservice, I went to the link above and there is nothing there? Can you Mod a Used Macbook?

Yes, you can send a MacBook with a broken screen in for the ModService, to be converted to a Modbook. I don't think there'd be any extra cost, but that would be subject to the AASP (Axiotron Authorised Service Provider - the people who perform the modification). http://forums.axiotron.com/showthread.php?tid=356

I just bought a used macbook online and the screen is popping out of the casing and the CD/DVD drive doesn't work and won't read anything. Not a big deal to me cause it was super cheap and use a hard drive to restore but will this be an issue when converting it?
