Issue(s) or symptom(s)
- Pairing a bluetooth device such as an Apple Wireless Keyboard or Mouse does not work or causes the mouse cursor to freeze.
- Browsing a bluetooth device using the Bluetooth File Exchange application causes the mouse cursor to freeze.
Products affected
- Axiotron Modbook (Dec 2007 to October 2008 only - later Modbooks have working Bluetooth)
- Apple Mac OS X (Leopard) version 10.5, 10.5.1, 10.5.2, 10.5.3
Status
These issues are being caused by shortcomings of the standard Bluetooth driver of Mac OS X 10.5.x (Leopard).
Axiotron has developed a hardware solution, which will restore and maintain full Bluetooth functionality. After this upgrade Bluetooth devices will again pair normally with the Modbook. It restores full Apple MacBook compatibility to the Axiotron Modbook. Since the upgrade enables the standard Apple MacBook Bluetooth hardware and software drivers, future Mac OS X operating system or driver updates will not disrupt the Axiotron Modbook’s Bluetooth capabilities on account of the Modbook.
Axiotron will release the details about the Bluetooth Compatibility Upgrade early November 2008.
Commitment
The Modbook Bluetooth Compatibility Upgrade program will be made available to every affected Modbook owner free-of-charge, and will include free round-trip shipping for Modbooks in the U.S. and Canada.
Solution
Until the Bluetooth Compatibility Upgrade has been installed, we recommend switching bluetooth under Mac OS X 10.5.x (Leopard) off.
BootCamp
Windows Vista Home/Business/Ultimate running via BootCamp 2.0 with all Apple drivers installed is not affected and all bluetooth features work as expected.
