RE: The dreaded jumping cursor... A possible resolution?
I was wondering if you have noticed any return of the jumping cursor on your ModBook since you fixed it with the insulation tape.
The jumping cursor totally disappeared on mine. Not even once! And I am working at least 4 hours a day on it.
Has the tape caused any other issues with the ModBook - causing overheating or anything?
I did not notice anything like overheating or anything anormal. You may use whatever you like to clean up the upper left corner of the modbook, you just have to prevent the wiring from being free, running all over the corner and causing undesired solenoid effect on the tablet. Good quality tape to tie them up together was very helpfull for me... Be carefull not to pinch the wires when you close up the modbook.
To open it up, you may follow the clear instructions of ifixit UP TO STEP 10 only! At step 10, IT IS necessary to remove the similar screws on the other side of the computer.
Above all: this procedure will probably void your warranty, if any. I would advise to have qualified technicians do it. Proceed at your own risk!
But it is definitely worth it...

Thank you!
You have been a big help (more than people at Axiotron).

I ve reopened it again last week as the cursor began to jump again. I discovered that a wire (antenna cables from the Airport card) had no insulation anymore, due to overheat I guess. After repair, the jumping cursor disappeared again.
It can really get on your nerves sometimes!
I made new photos, I can post them if needed.

Alex, does modbook works good for you on screen edges and corners?

Alex, does modbook works good for you on screen edges and corners?
To a certain extent, it works. It does not cover 100% of the tablet, the accuracy of the mouse at edges and corners is... not so good. But the jumping cursor totally disappeared when I reorganised the wiring inside between the two halves ot the modbook, at the upper left corner of the modbook.
New photos from inside.
And the cause of the latest jumping cursor (antenna cables from the Airport card).

In your side-by-side pic it looks as though there's an extra metal plate or shielding material installed. What is that?

This is an original part of the Modbook, it is a simple aluminium plate, very easy to be removed. I think it works as a schield. For more information, you must ask Axiotron!

I see, I just thought is was something you had customised, as the plate isn't in the comparison pic.
Thanks for posting all your findings!

I ve removed everthing to show the wiring inside, between the two halves of the Modbook. I have no doubt it causes 99% of the jumping cursor issue. I ve rescued mine twice with 100% success, I hope it might be helpfull for other Modbook fans!
I have customised mine, something that the Modbook really misses, but I will show it in an another thread...
